The study examines the poverty alleviation programme undertaken by Bharat Agro-Industries Foundation, a Pune based voluntary organization. Based on a rehabilitation approach, the programme seeks to settle the poor tribals of southern Gujarat in their original envi-ronment with a view to removing their poverty permanently. The programme has had favourable impact on the economic conditions of the affected people and hopefully, a model suitable for adoption at the national level would emerge on the basis of this experience.
